Founded in the 1970s by Ken Sloane and acquired in the mid-1980s by Fred and Helen Marano, the business entered a new era of growth under the Marano family’s leadership. While our scale has expanded, our mindset remains the same: build it properly, build it to last, and stand behind every trailer that carries the Sloanebuilt name.
1970s
Humble Beginnings
From humble beginnings in a small factory in Camden during the 1970s, Sloanebuilt was built on hard work, practical thinking and a commitment to quality craftsmanship. Originally manufacturing custom-built tipping bodies for local operators, the business quickly earned a reputation for reliability, durability and personalised service. As demand grew, so did Sloanebuilt—evolving from a modest workshop into a respected Australian manufacturer while remaining true to the values that continue to shape the business today.
1997
A New Home for Growth
In 1997, Sloanebuilt entered a new chapter with the move to a larger manufacturing facility in Smeaton Grange. The expanded site provided greater production capacity, allowing investment in new equipment, improved manufacturing processes and larger, more complex trailer builds. This milestone positioned the business for sustained growth, enabling Sloanebuilt to meet increasing customer demand while continuing to deliver the quality, reliability and craftsmanship the company had become known for.
2010
Leadership That Shaped Our Future
In 2010, Sloanebuilt proudly celebrated a milestone reflecting decades of dedication, innovation and steady growth. To mark the occasion, the company officially opened a 1,620 m² extension to its Hartley Road manufacturing facility, increasing production capacity and supporting future expansion. The occassion celebrated the people, partnerships and long-term vision that helped shape Sloanebuilt into the trusted Australian manufacturer it is today.
2020
Setting the Benchmark in Manufacturing
In 2020, Sloanebuilt reached another major milestone with the opening of its purpose-built 9-acre manufacturing facility in Smeaton Grange. Representing the largest investment in the company's history, the new headquarters significantly increased production capacity and introduced industry-leading equipment and technology. Today, the facility supports customers across Sydney, regional New South Wales and throughout Australia while reinforcing Sloanebuilt's long-term commitment to Australian manufacturing, innovation and local employment.
2023
Australian Owned Business of the year
As Sloanebuilt continued to grow, its commitment to Australian manufacturing, innovation and quality was recognised on a national stage. In 2023, the company was proudly named Australian Owned Business of the Year, acknowledging decades of investment in local manufacturing, skilled employment and customer-focused innovation. The award recognised not only the quality of Sloanebuilt's products, but also its ongoing contribution to strengthening Australian industry.

Industry Recognition
In 2024, Sloanebuilt received the Commonwealth Bank Business of the Year award at the Western Sydney Awards for Business Excellence (WSABE), recognising outstanding achievement in manufacturing and business leadership.
