Listening to and following his father's advice paid off for automotive apprentice Tim Marano. Tim, who works for his father Fred at Sloanebuilt Trailers, Smeaton Grange, was named the state's best automotive apprentice in body making.
He received his award at the 25th Motor Vehicle Repair Industry Authority Awards at the Royal Automobile Club in Sydney. Taught tricks of the trade by his father, Tim, who is now 23, is a fully qualified tradesman who is passing on his knowledge to the apprentices employed at Sloanebuilt Trailers.
He works mainly in the section that makes truck chassis, and tipper trailers.
Tim is now hoping that his accolade will give other apprentices an incentive to learn all aspects of their trade.
"Its a good award to have," Tim said. "I was trying hard and aiming for it, especially in the last year of my apprenticeship. I won a trip to Melbourne to visit the Holden and Ford factories and a tour around Kenworth truck factory."
Tim's in house training was supported by his studies at South Western Sydney Institute Wetherill Park College.
