Livestock, Bulk and Rural Carriers Association 2017 Conference

The LBRCA state conference was held in Dubbo last week and was sponsored and attended by Sloanebuilt sales staff members Ben Weckwerth and Bennett Haberbusch.

The Livestock, Bulk and Rural Carriers Association’s mission is: “Together we are working to achieve a more productive, efficient and safer industry for the future.”

Thursday was setup day and it didn’t take long for the association president Lynley Miners to spot the SBT W-Model and request it to be front-and-centre of the show, so a local detailing company was enlisted to give the big girl and going over and it attracted plenty of attention and was a great talking point for what Sloanebuilt can offer in the restoration, customisation and spray painting side of the business. Friday was a full day – expo from 8am with breakout sessions for stock carriers and bulk carriers focussing on current issues within the industry – road standards, road access, legislation and technology changes etc. There were lots of interesting speakers from the RMS, Safe Work NSW, insurance companies etc. We had our stand set up in the main pavilion near the stage. Friday evening was spent in the pavilion with the association presenting their Young Driver of the Year award and dinner hosted there too, followed by a comedian performance and drinks.

Saturday was a similar format with more presenters giving information on assorted topics of interest and more members on hand to look at the supporters stands and network with us and other suppliers. Productive discussions were had with members such as Baxter’s, Martins, McCullochs, Finemores, Fifes, Jock Carter and many others, along with the RMS and former roads minister Duncan Gay and new roads minister Melinda Pavey.

Saturday evening was held at the convention centre in town and was a formal night with the opportunity to speak to the audience about SBT and what we offer and where we are heading into the future. During the course of the event, Owner Driver magazine took interest in the W-Model and we had an impromptu photo shoot and an article appeared online that night outlining what types of services we offer at SBT. https://www.ownerdriver.com.au/industry-news/1703/w-model-with-a-twist  Overall it was an excellent opportunity to show our support to the premier bulk transport association in NSW.
